My wife’s birthday is December 27th.  It’s now the 12th and I have no idea what I’m going to get her for a present.  I told her that I’m ordering her a monkey for her birthday present.  This monkey:

Now, I’m not sure why she would believe for one minute that I am buying her a monkey but she totally did.  She asked where it lives now and I said Ohio.  It’s name is Miles.

She was quite for a minute, then started freaking out.

She said there is no room for a monkey in our apartment, and where would it go to the bathroom?  I offered to build a “monkey box” next to my side of the bed so it would have a place to live, and to toilet train it.

Then she went to the computer and translated this bit about monkeys from a Japanese website and sent it to me:

Problem of infectious disease
It is a problem of the infectious disease that wants you to know the first first when thinking the monkey is kept. The monkey hangs to the same infectious disease as us by the same primates as man. For instance, cold. Man’s cold doesn’t infect the pet of the hamster and the rabbit, etc. However, it infects the monkey.

Moreover, monkey’s sickness might infect man as a ratio though infecting the monkey from man is more. Might mutually move the sickness, a hygiene side, a healthy side or either management becomes important, too. However, because it is not a living thing made as a pet like the dog, the monkey is difficult in management on the hygiene side.

She was also worried that Miles the monkey would be sad living in our small apartment and that if we had to give him up sometime in the future he would miss us.  “You have to think of his feelings too” she said.  She’s very thoughtful.

Eventually I agreed to cancel the order on “Miles” and yes, I’m sure he wont be upset that he can’t live with us after all.

Take a bunch of pictures of something (a fountain for example) with people walking by and load the snapshots in to Photoshop.  Photoshop can look at the differences in your pictures and remove the people from your pics, leaving an unubstructed view of the fountain.  This is really cool, I had no idea Photoshop could do this.

Here’s the short video that shows how to do this.

I didn’t know they had AM:PM stores in Isreal, but the CEO was just fired for letting Jewish people there work on Yom Kippur.  Is this the same convenience store chain that’s all over Japan, or is it a different chain with the same name?
